The Church is the heart of the African-American community and throughout American history, the Church has remained constant during the periods of the struggles of African-Americans. The Black Chronicle, Issue 6, contains an article from December 6, 1864 wherein the headline reads, BLACK CHURCH REACHES SOUTH, showing that no matter where Blacks roam, the church is right there with the community, supporting, growing, and enriching the lives of African-Americans.

The Black Chronicle is an historical chronicle of the African-American people and the experience of the African-American church and reviews how these separate experiences are really one and the same.

When you read the Black Chronicle and examine the memorable stories of African-American history, you quickly discover how the Black Chronicle, because of its conversational and inspiring nature, becomes a wonderful means of joining African-American history with family and the sharing of events within the family and African-American community.
