The BLACK CHRONICLE is Black American history in a newspaper format. It has been created by educators and historians to deliver historical information from the black perspective. Fourteen issues cover the black experience from the American Revolution through the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
The information in the BLACK CHRONICLE is not fiction. Every aspect has been developed out of research in authentic source material, including rare collections of early black newspapers.
On the front page of each issue of the BLACK CHRONICLE, a major event in American history is presented as the lead news story. Issues also include news features, advertisements, human interest stories, historical drawings and editorials, quizzes and political cartoons. All are combined to present a total and multifaceted moment in history. The BLACK CHRONICLE was originated and produced by Robert A. Miller in association with BLACK SIDE, INC. and it is a supplement course offering in schools, colleges and universities, and is both core and supplemental curricula.
The General Objectives of the BLACK CHRONICLE are:
1. To increase awareness and understanding of the richness of Black American culture and history.
2. To help students understand that the American heritage is the result of the achievements and contributions of people of all races, colors and creeds.
3. To encourage and increase positive self – image among Black students.
